If you want to venture offshore for investment or business opportunities or for asset protection, and if you wish to avoid problems with the IRS, there are a variety of complex tax laws with which most domestic tax preparers are not familiar.

I've been a tax professional since 1962 but until early 1992, I had a very limited grasp of the byzantine rules that apply to foreign entities or investments owned by U.S. persons. And I was totally unfamiliar with the unique tax forms for foreign corporations, foreign trusts, foreign partnerships and foreign mutual funds.

By 1996 I decided these rules were so complex that I needed to either get in all the way or get out of the speciality of international tax. I chose to give up all of my domestic tax business and focus entirely on international taxation -- as an author, seminar instructor, consultant and preparer. So that is all I do.

If you don't have a domestic accountant to help you with your personal or business tax returns and the many other services provided by most public accountants, then I can't help you because I no longer provide those services. I only help people to prepare the various information returns that are required by the IRS for U.S. persons who are settlors or beneficiaries of a foreign trust, investors in a foreign corporation, IBC, partnership or LLC.
